Get Fit & Fundraise For A Good Cause!
With 2017 approaching many of us will be making New Year resolutions. Do you want to get fit? Do you want to help a charitable cause? Do you want get out there and meet others in the locality? How about doing all of the above. Come and join the Kingscourt Running Group, all are welcome from complete beginners to more experienced runners. A new 9 week programme will start from the 10/01/2017. All proceeds will go to the Lung Transplant Unit in partnership with CF Ireland and ILFA who have helped local man David Crosby. Colaiste Dun An Ri Students fundraise for maintenance of Christmas lights
This Friday 2nd December students from Colaiste Dun An Ri will be carol singing on Main Street Kingscourt to help fundraise for the maintenance of the Christmas lights. This will take place from 2.30pm to 3.15pm. A donation of €3 will sponsor 1 bulb and €5 will sponsor 2 bulbs. Anyone who sponsors a bulb will be entered into a draw for a hamper which will take place in Callan’s pharmacy at 12 noon on Christmas Eve. Also students will be offering hand-crafted decorations (pictured below) in exchange for donations. Well done to all involved!

Kingscourt Christmas Lights 2016
Don’t forget the Christmas lights are being turned on at 7.00pm on Friday 2nd December. Santa has promised us that he will be there along with Kingscourt Fire Brigade and St. Mary’s Brass & Reed Band! Visit the marquee, indulge in some mulled wine, browse the many stalls and perhaps pick up a Christmas present for a loved one. Please join us for some refreshments and to spread some Christmas cheer! Just the thing to get us in the mood for the Late Late Toy Show which will air later that night on RTE1 at 9.35pm.
Also just to remind you that Sponsor A Christmas Bulb will be running this year and anyone who donates will be entered into a draw for a hamper. The draw will take place in Callans pharmacy @ 12.00 noon on Christmas Eve. A donation of €3 sponsors 1 bulb and €5 sponsors 2 bulbs.

Celebrity Chef Kevin Dundon to visit O’Gorman’s SuperValu Kingscourt

Celebrity chef Kevin Dundon will perform a live cookery demonstration in O’Gorman’s SuperValu Kingscourt. This event takes place on Wednesday November 30th from 7pm to 9pm. Huge Success for The Wishing Well Bar & Bistro at the Irish Food Awards

A massive congratulations to The Wishing Well Bar & Bistro who picked up two awards at the Irish Food Awards last night. Kingscourt Craft And Trade Fair 2016

The largest indoor Trade and Craft Fair in the North East will be held in Kingscourt this Saturday & Sunday 26th and 27th of November 2016.
Over 5000 people attended last years fair which targets the domestic and professional consumer and covers areas such as Home Improvement, D.I.Y.,Crafts, Gift-ware and Home Produce. This years Craft and Trade Fair is sponsored by O’Gorman’s Super Valu Kingscourt, McNally Pharmacy Kingscourt & Kieran Bros. Furniture Kingscourt.
Doors opens at 11am and close at 6pm Saturday and Sunday.

Castletown Senior and Youth Accordion Orchestra
Congratulations to both the Castletown Senior and Youth Accordion Orchestra who won both their sections respectively in Prague last weekend
A great result for local musicians Ellen, Kate and Lucy Farrelly, Rachel & Amie Mc Keon, Jordan Curtis & Cian Wilson and Karl Parge with conductor Sara Brennan as they return to Ireland with two 1st’s and a 3rd from the International Accordion Days Festival that was held in Prague from Thursday 3rd to Saturday November 5th. Castletown Youth Accordion Orchestra led by musical director, Sara Brennan from Kingscourt, scooped the top prize in the Under 19 Orchestral section with a Silver Award where all of the above named were part of and the Senior Orchestra, led by John Chilton, Lisduff, Virginia were awarded a 1st Place with a Gold Award in the Light Music Section and a 3rd in the Classical Section which both Sara Brennan and Ellen Farrelly also performed with.
Eighty nine people travelled to Prague on this trip that included the members of two Castletown Accordion Orchestras, a combination of of the Junior and Intermediate Orchestras (Castletown Youth Orchestra) and a Senior Orchestra, their supporters and families.
The competitions seen orchestras from Germany, Serbia, Czech Republic, Norway and Ireland. As well as competing at the International Accordion Festival, both Castletown Accordion Orchestras also performed a number of concerts. The Youth Orchestra led by musical director Sara Brennan performed on Thursday Night November 3rd in Lieben Castle and the Senior Orchestra led by musical director John Chilton performed at the Gala Concert held in the Prague Conservatory of Music on Friday night November 4th.
