A Charity Golf Classic will take place on May 12th in Mannan Castle, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. St. Mary’s Brass and Reed Band are hosting a ‘Monster Easter Bingo’ on Thursday 20th of April in the Matt Talbot Hall, Kingscourt at 8.30pm. A charity fundraiser in aid of the Family Addiction Support Network will take place on Easter Monday from 2pm to 6pm. The event is organised by Brendan and Jackie McKenna and will take place in Muff, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. It promises to be a fun day out with something for everyone. Visit the breathtaking cottage garden, sample some teas and homemade pastries in Bella’s Kitchen or rummage through the car boot sale and pick up a bargain! Also if you would like to buy a pitch in the car boot sale it costs just €10. You can also take part (and maybe even win a prize) in the Annual Duck Race where hundreds of rubber ducks will make their way down the river. Admission is by donation and kids go free! A huge congratulations to St. Mary’s Brass & Reed Band Kingscourt who competed in the Irish Association of Brass and Concert Bands – IABCB National Championships 2017 last Saturday. 🎺 The competition took place in the Solstice Arts Centre in Navan and bands from all over the country competed in the event. 🎷 St. Mary’s Brass & Reed Band Kingscourt came second 2nd place in Section 3. A massive well done to all involved.

The recent triggering of article 50 signalling the exit by the United Kingdom from the European Union has sparked a flurry of activity from concrete supplies in the border region.
With many commentators speculating on the practical implications of a “hard brexit”, entrepreneurial concrete suppliers such as O Reilly Concrete are preparing for the reality of a 20m high border wall which will run from Donegal to Armagh.
Large scale concrete batching plants last seen on the same scale in East Germany for the construction of the Berlin Wall are being planned in Kingscourt to facilitate construction.
Plans are in place to ensure the wall is complete by 2018 when U.S. president Donald Tump will travel to Ireland officially close the border using the presidential seal.
