Congratulations St Mary’s Brass and Reed Band

‘St. Mary’s Brass and Reed Band’s Junior and Senior Bands had a very exciting and eventful weekend in Clonakilty, Co. Cork performing at The South of Ireland Band Championships. Both bands won 3rd prize in their respective Junior and Intermediate sections, as well as the Senior Band winning a special award for Best March in their section. The band would like to thank the conductors- Lorcan Daly and Mairead Smith for their hand work and commitment. A very special word of thanks to all those who supported the Band in their recent fundraising efforts which helped to subsidise the trip. As always, your support is very much appreciated.’

Massive congratulations to this inspirational man David Crosby, won represented Ireland at the Transplant Games in Italy. David won Bronze in the 20k Bike and Silver in the 400m sprint. 🎉🎉🇨🇮

Colaiste Dun An Ri Evening of Excellence Awards 2018


Coláiste Dún an Rí held its 2nd annual Evening of Excellence Awards ceremony, on Tuesday 22nd May. It was the first time the awards ceremony took place wihin the new state of the art school. The special guest on the evening was Ms. Catherina McKiernan. Ms. McKiernan is a former long-distance runner for Ireland, who competed in the marathon, 10,000 metres and cross country running. She attended in the company of   Mr. Clifford Kelly Chairperson CMETB, Mr Sean McKiernan, David Crosby, members of the Parents’ Association, Board of Management, parents, family members and other invited guests, the students were recognised for their outstanding contribution to a myriad of extra-curricular activities that they participated in throughout the year.  In her address to the students, Catherina praised them for all that they had achieved in such a short period of time. She also gave an insightful analogy on her recipe for success. She outlined to students that if they engage with the various ingredients needed for her recipe they have an opportunity within Coláiste Dún an Rí to be very successful in the future.

Throughout the course of the evening, students were called to the stage to accept an award for his or her contribution to a sporting discipline-GAA, soccer, golf, athletics, badminton etc.-the BT Young Scientist Competition, SCi Fest, drama, music, lunch-time Clubs, or for their positive contribution to life in the school. Other speakers on the night praised both the students and staff for the positivity they have generated in and around the town of Kingscourt and wished all every success going forward.  Principal Mr Fergal Boyle ended the evening by thanking everyone for attending the event and commended all – especially students and staff-who had contributed in any small way to the wonderful success the school had in its second year.

Kingscourt Stars Club Notes


Annual Gyproc SAINT-GOBAIN family run/walk will take place in aid of Kingscourt Stars Ladies and Barnardos on the Bank Holiday Monday June 4th starting at 11am with registration at 10.45am, meeting at the main stand at the football pitch. €10 per participant, or €20 per family. Refreshments and face painting afterwards! 

Child Protection 

The last Child Protection course for 2018 will be facilitated by Dudley Farrell at our club rooms on the bank holiday Monday June 4th at 7.30pm. All coaches MUST have completed this course if they are working with our juveniles. This will be the last opportunity to avail of this training for 2018! Our Child Protection Officer is Sonya Morris Monaghan and all enquiries should be directed to her at 0879815614 


A huge win for Cavan U14 girls on Sunday in Kinnegad as they beat Galway in the All Ireland A semi final Cavan 1-09 Galway 1-07. Well done girls including our own Ava McCaul. Congratulations to Shannen McCormack who won U16 Player of the Year at St Louis Secondary School. 


Tickets are now available for the Kingscourt Stars pitch development draw – €20 each or a book of 6 for €100. The draw will take place on Sunday 26th August and the winner gets 2 All Ireland football tickets plus €100 spending money! There will also be 8 weekly draws for €100 from Sunday July 8th to Sunday July 26th. It is vital that everyone supports this draw and all parents are invited to buy at least 1 ticket. All money raised will go towards much needed repair and development at our grounds. Tickets are available from players, committee members, Clarkes Corner Bar, M&Fs Bar, Pat Faulkners, The Willows, Robbie O’Connells and juvenile coaches. There is a lot of work planned to improve our grounds which will benefit all players. Our juveniles are very well looked after by coaches who give up their time voluntarily and are passionate about what they are about. If everyone buys at least 1 ticket then this will go a long way to help defray some of the upcoming costs and provide a better environment for all to enjoy! 

Cúl Camps 

Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camps will take place in Kingscourt the week of Monday July 2nd to Friday July 6th. This promises to be a fun filled week of football, hurling and camogie for all children aged 6-13. The camp costs €60 for 1st child; €50 for 2nd child; €40 for 3rd and subsequent children. Book online or contact Chris Conroy 087 9785084 


Committee meeting was held last Thursday at 9pm. Up for discussion was the Pitch Development Draw and tickets were distributed to committee members. 

Couch to 5k 

Healthy Club Couch to 5k continues every Monday and Wednesday at 7pm; and Saturdays at 10am, meeting at the football pitch. €2 per Session. Everyone Welcome (must be over 14 years age) Get activeGet healthy, Get fit! Part of Kingscourt Stars Healthy Club Policy!  Final run is not for a while yet so still time to get going. Huge thanks to Micheal Gargan, with the help of his sister Rachel, on the great encouragement for all the runners! 


  Two good wins for our seniors this weekend. Our seniors played Crosserlough last Friday evening and beat them Kingscourt 2-13 Crosserlough 0-12. Next league senior game is away V Cavan Gaels next Friday at 8pm. Our reserves travelled to Killinkere last Saturday and won Kingscourt 2-15 Killinkere 1-13. There will be a break from all Adult Competition commencing on Saturday, June 2nd and ending on Friday, June 15th. We play Lavey in the first round of the Hotel Kilmore Senior Championship.
